Nick Rocks

Recording is now complete, and I have put together the song. Ive listened to it in parts, and together over 100 times so it gets a bit of a blur when listening to it. I made a change and made Josh’s guitar line a solo in one bit and the drums too. Sounds good. Just waiting on entry form and then it will be sent. (needs to be there buy Friday 31-7). Keen for Homegrown 2010- its in Feb??

HOMEGROWN

Well it is now nearly under a week until Homegrown 09, what a wicked lineup. It seems that staying at the Rockstage might be a good option. However I have some Suggestions (So you can research the bands)

1-Katchafire dub and roots stage
3:05 – Goodnight Nurse – Rock Stage
4:25 – Elemeno P – Rock stage
5:45 – Tea Break (evermore Rstage, the checks Indie Stage)
7:05 – Opshop – rock stage (for Zac)
8:25 – Blindspott (for me) Rock stage
9:45 – Supergroove – Rock Stage

So theres an idea of some plans. If we have to line up later in the evening, theres some other good acts on (not like last year). Check out the www.Homegrwon.net.nz for more info.

Hopefully we are going to leave about 930/10 prob from tranzit, but could pop round and get people, like the cartertoners. But let me know. We should get to Wellington early enuf for Ashmore to ge some shoes, Sophie to get some stationary (ery?) and Josh to look at guitars, and eat (all of us), then off to concert (bring gold coin for damn parking meters).

What next…

Well it sure has been awhile. And no-ones really sure whats happening, or what people want to do., I know that a couple of songs have been requested and are doebale. The offspring – pretty fly for a white guy, Goodnight nurse-death goes to disco, both of which i learnt and we can do. Josh also mentioned antoher one (which he sent me) which i can’t remember, hang on… face down- red jumpsuit apparatus, again doeable. Theres probably more, but those seem lgoical are quite fun, and energetic. Practise may be hard, but maybe one friday evening after school, we could get together and do some songs, catch up (mock Daniel) etc… but hey, it doesnt matter in the end. any one keen to knock out some tunes and relax, we can work something.

HOMEGROWN:

Well the plan is (that i thought) we catch the train on saturday morning (pretty early tho), then chill out till the gates open, goodnight nurse on at 3ish followed by elemeno p, so if we get early enough, we should be able to see both, then its up to us, as to where we go and what we see.

The other plan is for us to stay the night in welly and train back. Of course this is pending parental permission, cost, and a place to stay. Maybe someone knows someone down there where we could stay, or someone has an apartment. That way we can stay and see some of the other bands. Or the other option is, we find a vehicle to get us there, and drive back late at night.

Thing to think about.

Keep in touch.

Road TRIP?

The end of year is upon us and the plan is to make a music video the day after prizegiving. Possibly in the afternnon/evening of thursday 28th. Then for everyone to stay in masterton, and leave early friday morning for roadtrip to palmy. To do some filming on the way, and have abit of fun.
So far discusions revolve around what song for video (s) plans of things to shoots, scenes, locations etc… recording the music. Transport and cost is another thing. We might be able to squeeze into a territory and just pay for petrol, or find someone willing to pay for a van and petrol ($200). we wont need to take anything for the roadtrip (instruments wise). So get your time off booked, get your money together, and altk to each other about wat to do.

Battle of The Bands

Practising hard for Roslyn Battle of the bands, November 27. Unfortunately this is the same day of St Marks fixture, which affects Josh and Me, But we can sort something no worries.

Plan is to do all the small things, Our song (semi acoustic), and My only. No me on stage so time to pull out the stops, heres some info from the site:

Judges will be choosing an overall winning band based on the performances they see.

Judges will allocate points to bands for their overall performance, song selection, stage presence, musicianship and audience reaction and participation.

Judges will also choose individuals who they see as outstanding in their chosen instrument.  Person/s chosen will be recognised for their individual musicianship.
These individuals are not necessarily part of the overall winning band.

go to http://www.roslyn.school.nz/bob/details.html for more details, need to fill out a profile etc…

practise grrr.

peace out

band name

sup ,heres the low down on the band name. The name for the school rock band we thought should have something to do with school and because we have had a few line up changes over the years I thought “Roll Call” sounded good.

The dictionary says ” A process of calling out a list of names to establish who is present” .In a actual Roll Call people step forward, stand up, or call out. thats what we want our fans to do!!!!

If you chant “Roll Call” it sounds like ” Real Cool” Or “Rock All” Go the groupies, step forward, stand up & call out.

BDO ’09

Plans are a foot for a road trip in January to the BIg Day Out. It’ll be a dash and crash, 2 night trip. Plan is to leave on Thursday 15th stay in Auckland, Go to BDO on Friday 16th, stay again and then return on Saturday 17th. The reason for this is to keep costs down. Ticket for the Big Day Out are around $125 and go on sale Friday 10th October. All up with accomodation, food and petrol the cost will be $250-$350. Depending on the availibility to borrow a van.  Chances are Teresa may come as a second parent/driver. So numbers could be up to 9 (with Matt coming too?). So get sucking up and get permission if keen, for more info go to www.bigdayout.com
